A ENGLANDER TEACHES OUR FELLOW COUNTRYMEN TO DRIVE SAFELY
According to Brian Northall the Bulgarian drivers are making too many sudden and illogical manoeuvres on the road
"The driver should treat the steering wheel and the pedals of the vehicle gently as if they were a lady," said Brian Northall a consultant in safe driving. He is visiting Bulgaria again in order to pass on his experience to the fuel tanker drivers at the Shell petrol stations.
Brian Northall from England is 100% gentlemen, not only because of his dress and manners, but also because of his professional vocabulary. While he was training the journalists, our countrymen he was using the word 'gently' over and over again. The Bulgarian version of the word 'gently' means tenderly, mildly.
While he was demonstrating his driving on the Sofia streets with a Ford Scorpio, the expert kept explaining how certain dangers on the road should be avoided. His mild and even baritone voice had a soothing effect on the hearts and souls of the passengers in the car, nervous from the traffic, jams and holes in the roads. His lesson looked like the séance of Kashpirovski.
Driven by the instructor the Scorpio was moving gracefully like a boat along the Bulgaria Boulevard. Mr Northall started the preparations for a stop at least 200 metres before the traffic lights at the National Palace of Culture. "I could see that the lights at the National Palace of culture were on red and that is why I prepared to slow down early", explained the Englishman.
The Scorpio settled in the line of vehicles at the traffic lights. There was a space for yet another car in front of us, however instead of stamping on our brakes at a hairs distance we did so gently and the taxi driver behind us also responded gently and stopped at a half car distance away.
